SHOTBLASTING
TECHNOLOGY
An extremely powerful and productive machine that can tackle the most extensive surface preparation, renovation, and maintenance jobs.
Blastrac® shot blasters are an environmentally sound choice for high-productivity abrasion in surface preparation.
ECONOMICALLY SOUND
Blastrac® shot blasting is cost-effective for skid resistance, preparing concrete and asphalt, and removing rubber markings, paint, and epoxy.
ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND
Blastrac® products are environmentally friendly. Our systems reduce pollutants at the job site, reduce noise, and allow multiple tasks to occur simultaneously.
TESTED AND APPROVED
DOT highway approved. It is self-contained and specifically designed for surface preparation specialists doing jobs requiring limited downtime, such as airports, highways, and bridges.
SKIDABRADER SHOTBLASTING TECHNOLOGY
MACRO TEXTURE
Macro-texture is the space or voids between the aggregate particles. An asphalt pavement surface's texture depth / macro texture will normally be between 1.0mm and 1.5. This macrotexture allows the water to drain away from the surface and greatly contributes to skid resistance in wet conditions. Shot blasting is a very cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and high-performance technology for reducing the
danger of slippery highways & runways. It will remove rubber deposits and will bring the surface macrotexture back to that of the aggregate ability.
MICRO TEXTURE
Micro-texture is the fine component of surface texture formed by the tiny interstices on the surface of the aggregate particles. It is the main contributor to providing grip or skid resistance with the tire, particularly at low speeds. Micro-texture is measured by PSV using the British Pendulum Tester or by mobile methods such as the Griptester or SCRIM. Shot blasting is the only technology to restore Micro-Texture values to pavement surfaces. Improvement of Microtexture with the shot blasting process is extremely effective. In all cases, it will bring back the full benefit of the PSV of aggregate as per its original properties.
WHERE CAN SHOT BLASTING BE USED?
-
To clean and prepare surfaces | such as steel, concrete, and asphalt.
-
To remove top layers | like paint and epoxy.
-
To remove markings & rubber | from highways, runways, industrial floors, and more.
-
To improve skid resistance | on surfaces such as sidewalks, bike paths, roads, and runways.
Blastrac closed circuit media blasting machines throw a large amount of steel abrasive media by centrifugal force at the surface. The shot blaster recycles the media after the steel abrasive hits the surface. Dust and contaminants are removed by an air wash separator and are removed to a dedicated Blastrac dust collector. This makes the process almost dust-free in operation. Blasting with steel shot is the most environmentally friendly abrasive blasting method because there is no use of chemical products or waste of valuable drinking water.
